Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.
Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.
The player's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.
Moutet defended four early break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
